Analytics for Supply Management 1: Fundamental Concepts & Techniques (formerly Business Analytics for Procurement)

ISM’s practitioner/instructor will cover essential concepts and best practices in cost analysis, market analysis and opportunity analysis during this informative workshop that includes valuable hands-on exercises.

This meeting will run from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM daily.

  • How to analyze spend data and gauge improvement opportunities
  • To identify and engage key stakeholders with whom analyses need to be shared

  2. Price/Cost Analysis - price and cost stages
  3. Supplier Portfolio Matrix - strategic, leverage, bottleneck, and routine
  4. Business Requirements Analysis - needs vs. wants, challenging the wants, determining the requirements
  5. Conditioning – roles, active & responsive conditioning
  6. Supplier Pricing - how suppliers set prices, analyzing pricing methods
  7. Cost Analysis - methods of cost analysis, total cost of ownership (TCO), Average Total Cost and Marginal Cost
  8. Supplier Market Analysis – basic & advanced market analysis, Porter’s 5 Forces, STEEP, SWOT, where to find data
  9. Supplier Financial Analysis - where to find the data, ratio analysis
  10. Opportunity Analysis - essential concepts & best practices
  11. Supplier Strategies on Spend - opportunity matrix, spend analysis & Pareto, opportunity examples
  12. Stakeholder Identification - analyzing who the stakeholders are
  13. Action Planning - action planning templates, setting goals
