Job Description
The Raw Materials Buyer is a part of the global procurement organization reporting to the Raw Materials Regional Sourcing Leader. The Raw Materials Buyer supports category leaders, assisting in the management of third party supply agreements and the associated external supplier relationships. The Raw Materials Buyer will be responsible to ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials under the best possible commercial conditions.Key responsibilities include the following
- Responsible for developing knowledge in the category areas assigned including marketplace awareness, internal client needs and external vendor capabilities
- Support delivery of the category sourcing strategies for assigned contract portfolio via bidding, negotiation, extension, amendments, etc.
- Support day to day relationships with vendors and maintain focus through various activities as agreed with the category and regional sourcing leaders
- Responsible for day to day operational focal point with client function to ensure alignment of objectives
- Work with the regional sourcing leader to understand the marketplace drivers, leverage, positioning, etc. to negotiate best available market pricing
- Responsible for cooperation and collaboration with the Assistant Buyer to complete contract file, SAP contract creation in accordance with procurement business processes, to ensure smooth purchase to pay operations.
- Support understanding of the operational risk associated with the assigned contract portfolio and assist in the implementation of plans to mitigate where appropriate
- Responsible for resolution of short-term supply exceptions within contract portfolio through operational interfaces with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams
- Support stewardship of vendor performance and address issues that arise within assigned contract portfolio
- Ensure consistency and compliance with business controls and ethics requirements

The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years of relevant raw materials buying experience preferably within a chemical or manufacturing environment
- Ability to work well independently as well as within a team
- Effective negotiation skills when dealing with suppliers from multi-national to small local suppliers
- Deploy analytical problem solving skills to proactively solve supply problems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to deliver against changing priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to take initiative and manage risks
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint as well as SAP
