This is a Seattle, WA based Financial Services organization. Our firm provides a full range of investment banking, sales, trading, research and strategy across the spectrum of equities, fixed income, and foreign exchange, as well as wealth management, in the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Job Description

The Procurement Manager / Strategic Sourcing Manager will be expected to manage a portfolio of categories across the technical spend space, including but not limited to market data, professional services, IT, consulting, and other business services.

The role is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving strategic sourcing strategies that maximize value and minimize risk for this Financial Services / Banking firm.

As the face of Procurement to the external partners, the Procurement Manager / Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for building and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including business line clients/ partners, other industry counterparts, and suppliers.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify effective sourcing and category management strategies for categories through a variety of procurement tools and best practices, including spend analysis, market analysis and business intelligence, requirements gathering and stakeholder relationship management.

  • Manage the full strategic sourcing life-cycle of complex sourcing initiatives, from partnering with Subject Matter Expert (SME) teams to defining scope and identifying requirements to conducting competitive bidding (RFx) processes to vendor evaluation and negotiation of pricing and contract terms.

  • Apply industry expertise and best practices in the design and implementation of category strategies.

  • Ensure established category strategies are aligned with and support the overall business goals and needs of client departments and the Bank.

  • Design roadmap that forecasts and prioritizes strategic sourcing project demand based on collected business intelligence, data analysis, and industry insights.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Ensure that supplier diversity considerations are involved in category and strategic sourcing strategies and strategic sourcing project planning and implementation. Continually update existing diverse supplier database with new market and industry research findings. Measure performance against established supplier diversity-related metrics.

  • Develop business case analyses in support of sourcing initiatives for presentation to oversight groups and executive-level decision makers

The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in strategic sourcing and contracting.

  • Strong subject matter expertise in spend analysis, market analysis, RFX development and evaluation, and contract negotiation.

  • Ability to think strategically and to foster and drive continuous improvement.

  • Strong business acumen with positive, solution-oriented approach.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to clearly communicate the value of sourcing and vendor management services and practices to clients and other stakeholders.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong partnerships and to work across organizational lines to achieve objectives.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to develop and deliver clear, concise, and persuasive communications and presentations to senior-level audiences.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related fields required.

  • Postgraduate degree a plus.

Specific Market Data Vender Relationship Functions

  • Manage commercial negotiations with relevant Market Data vendors and liaise with legal to ensure favorable commercial terms which meet business requirements and mitigate business risk.

  • Ensuring that the firm leverages its global purchasing power with the vendors while undertaking proactive management of the global contracts on behalf of all relevant entities

  • Working to simplify and streamline procedures for order management, cancellation, contract management and invoice payment while working closely with the Market Data Finance Team

  • Ensuring that all the terms of all deals whether global or domestic are communicated to the relevant entities/stake holders who are entitled to consume the products, as well as managing the compliance aspect.

  • Chairing regular meetings with the vendors, facilitating the involvement of the BA's and business with key vendor representatives

  • Ensuring best practice is put in place for negotiation of all market data purchases

  • Ten years or more Equities, Fixed Income, Investment Banking specifically within a Market Data BA or Vendor Manager role

  • Global multimillion dollar value contract negotiations. Ten years or more experience negotiating and managing Market Data contracts

  • Regional/global market data inventory management and cost allocation participation

  • Strong administration and market data product knowledge.

  • Good understanding of market data inventory systems, processes and procedures

  • Finance & cost allocation process

  • MS Office suite academic and professional qualifications

  • Higher economic, business or finance education degree
