The position will be located in New Brunswick, NJ and will report to the Associate Director, External Manufacturing, Americas Region. The position will be responsible for the effective supply chain management of finished goods and drug product sourced from external Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) that supply to respective Customers and Markets.  The position acts as the primary interface between the CMO and the broader Bristol-Myers Squibb supply chain organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

-  Provide supply chain leadership and guidance for the contract manufacturing Virtual Plant Team (VPT) in alignment with the overall Global Product Development & Supply (GPS) vision and strategic direction.

-  Accountable for all supply chain management activities impacting the supply performance of assigned CMO’s, including forecasting, purchase order management, capacity planning, supply planning, and logistics management for products sourced from assigned CMO’s. 

-  Ensure effective communication of supply chain information to and from the Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) & VPT, and maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners at CMOs to facilitate continuous performance improvement

-  Lead and participate in VPT team meetings and CMO site meetings, as required. 

-  Accountable for managing the supply chain key performance indicators (KPI’s) for assigned CMO’s, including Customer Service, Receipt-to-Promise, PO Compliance, and Product Release Attainment.  

-  Develop and implement supply chain process improvements focused on improving supply chain metric performance and business processes with Contract Manufacturing Organizations. 

-  Present supply chain metric performance results, supply chain process improvement initiatives, and supply chain escalated business issues at CMO Quarterly and Annual Business Reviews.  - 

-  Promotes a Continuous Improvement environment and demonstrate leadership in dealing with complex and ambiguous business issues.

-  Responsible for the review of CMO production/packaging requirements and demand variability for the entire planning horizon to identify major changes.  Work to resolve forecasting issues impacting product availability.

-  Work closely with the External Manufacturing Americas Supply Planning team in managing supplier capacity constraints in the short, medium, and long term planning horizon.  Manage resolution and escalation to the VPT and BMS Supply Chain Management as necessary. 

-  Partner with appropriate Global Supply Chain teams to manage shortages and stock-outs in the market.  Mitigate potential supply risk (backorders, anticipated backorders) for assigned CMO’s. 

-  Collaborate with the Enterprise Inventory Optimization (EIO) team to determine appropriate tolled material inventory levels/targets to be held at CMO.  Adjust as necessary based on forecast changes/business requirements

-  Manage the interaction with the contract manufacturing sites and logistics teams to ensure adequate production, release, and shipments are taking place to meet market committed demand requirements.

-  Accountable for managing various projects for products sourced from the manufacturing sites, including new product introductions (Site-to-Market), site transfers, and/or labeling changes.

-  Identify key internal and external customers, and maintain effective working relationships to facilitate achievement of business unit's objectives.  Build and continuously reinforce client-focused relationships with CMO and external Global Supply Chain teams.

-  Ensure that BMS Supply Chain requirements are represented in the contract with the relevant CMO and responsible for providing input into contract amendments/updates. 

-  Assist in preparing volumes for budget and projection processes.  Analyze and provide assessment explaining gaps between Actuals Vs. Plan.

-  Promote development of a high performing team through effective performance management, as required. 

-  Execute work in compliance with cGMPs, site policies, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).


•  Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business management discipline required. Master’s degree preferred.

•  APICS certification preferred

•  Minimum of 5 years of combined experience in supply chain and/or manufacturing disciplines preferred.

•  Experience in Pharmaceutical and/or regulated industry environment is highly desirable. 

•  Must possess an understanding of processes related to supply chain business acumen:  demand creation, manufacturing, planning, distribution, financial processes and their interdependencies, and related systems and technology such as SAP.

•  Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with a range of technically, culturally, and functionally diverse people.

•  Proven experience in a multinational company working in a Supply Chain Management department or equivalent.

•  Demonstrated experience in participating in high performing teams.

•  Ability to influence teams and colleagues in a complex business matrix

•  Demonstrated ability to work within and across functions, ensuring high quality results.

•  Ability to drive results as well as take balanced risks and drive decisions

•  Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem solving skills

•  Creates and maintains strong working relationships within the BMS organization and externally with trade customers.
