Your Challenge

We challenge you to provide proactive leadership to the procurement organization and strong business partnership to deliver solutions that contribute to business success across our diverse connected care portfolio of products and solutions (Monitoring and Analytics, Therapeutic Care, Sleep and Respiratory, and Population Health Management). The Procurement Engineering Business Partner will lead and manage all procurement engineering activities for the global business segment. This business partner understands the product context End to End and delivers business strategies including the strategic cost management vision to the commodities. This business partner owns the DfX concept and competence and ensures alignment with all other functional disciplines, market stakeholders and relevant other business entities to make this happen.

In this role you will be challenged to drive several concurrent agendas to consolidate supply base, manufacturing and deliver creative solutions to product development and operations in achieving shared business objectives in cost reduction, time to market and quality. You will establish processes and ways of working that ensures the engagement and early involvement of all relevant commodities.

               

Your Responsibilities

The Procurement Engineering Business Partner will specifically be responsible for…

  • Actively participating on the Business MT and driving Procurement strategies that meet the business and Connected Care product portfolio needs
  • Managing the product context within procurement via DfX concepts, and interfacing with all other functional disciplines.
  • Owning a truly global/regional scope, influencing approximately $800M in spend and related risks for assigned product portfolio.
  • Driving the short and medium term (3-5 year) procurement strategy for connected care
  • Coordinating all relevant functional stakeholders around assigned the product portfolio; 
  • Leading all Procurement Engineering activity
  • Meeting all segment related Procurement Objectives/KPI’s
  • Achieving product cost reduction through value engineering/DfX and supply chain optimization in the BIU
  • Acting as interface to the Commodity Cluster Leaders
  • Ensuring BG relevant spend volume will be managed through the DfX concept
  • Owning talent management of the procurement Engineering function across the Business Segment
  • Demonstrating leadership and vision to support the organizational BIU objectives
  • Ensuring that segment Procurement Engineering related risks are controlled and mitigated;
  • Building and securing manufacturing capabilities and capacity with 3rd parties
  • Defining procurement requirements and business drivers for supply strategy for in/outsourcing and components in x-fctl collaboration;
  • Aligning Product & Technology Roadmaps with suppliers and ensuring early supplier involvement in Product Design Process;
  • Managing the link between the new product introduction process with supplier selection
  • Securing S&OP linkage to component availability
  • Ensuring development of cost & quality roadmaps & linkage to margin management
  • Managing development of Target Cost model of products
  • Managing standardization & complexity reduction (concept improvement)

Your Experience

  • Bachelors Required; Master’s degree preferred in a relevant technical discipline (e.g. Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent)
  • Professional with at least 8-10 years proven track record
  • Experience in R&D, product development and/or operations
  • Experience in supplier management and/or development
  • Understanding of suppliers, business models, key drivers, measures and priorities
  • Significant expertise in the DfX, DFSS, DMAIC, Six Sigma, and/or Lean methodology
  • Significant expertise in applying cost models
  • Significant expertise Expert in applying Value Engineering processes

Your Team

The Procurement Engineering Business Partner serves as a key member of the business management team and ensures that all the business leaders can access all procurement activities, including the commodity management teams. The Business Partner will lead a team of close to 100 FTEs reporting directly through 4 senior directors. The Procurement Engineering Business Partner ensures early involvement in the NPI process to drive cost, quality and functionality improvement.  This team also insures the involvement of all relevant Commodity Management teams in I2M process.  In addition, this position is responsible and accountable for the quality and business compliance of procurement processes and activities within the Business Group.
