Job Title:  Operations Manager

Reports to: VP Safety and Operations

SUMMARY

Provide overall support to the Warehouse Manager in the daily operation of the PDC. Primary focus to include: safety policies and compliance; inventory and facility management; data collection and analysis; training and development of hourly associates; and customer claims management.  In the absence of the Warehouse manager, this position manages all warehouse operations, including providing direction to supervisors and meeting daily targets.  Direct reports include Claims Resolution Specialist, Training Coordinator, and Cycle Count Coordinator.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support Warehouse Manager in managing and leading supervisors on all shifts.
  2. Support Warehouse Manager in assigning daily job responsibilities to supervisors and hourly warehouse staff and account for daily performance of the warehouse
  3. Coordinate flow of material of all products from receipt to shipment to the customer.
  4. Communicate, support, and achieve daily expectations.
  5. Continuously improve material flow, processes, and efficiency of all warehouse functions and employees.
  6. Ensure charts are developed and updated as required to monitor and report daily performance.
  7. Manage projects as assigned and ensure project boards are maintained.
  8. Promote safety among all employees and visitors of the Company
  9. Maintain cleanliness and organization of facility.
  10. Other duties as assigned by the Executive of the Company. Supports other PDC’s as required.
  11. Develops and delivers all material handling equipment training and certification.
  12. Develops and implements new associate training and onboarding process with a focus on winning culture and retention.
  13. Establish operational procedures for distribution center activities such as verification of incoming shipments, processing of outbound shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and the movement and storage of inventory (coordination of fiscal inventory).
  1. Establish operational procedures for cycle counting and problem resolution of inventory including:

·       Strategic inventory planning

·       Monitor inventory performance

·       Measure inventory accuracy

·       Analyze inventory slotting/FSA

·       Analyze bin layout

·       Monitor storage conditions

·       Oversee cycle count program

·       Manage inventory KPIs 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages Customer Claims, Training, and Cycle Count coordinators within the warehouse.  Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning, and directing work: appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems from all employees within the scope of the warehouse.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Warehouse and/or manufacturing leadership experience is required
  2. Inventory management, facility layout, cycle count experience is required
  3. Strong data collection and analysis skills are preferred; including capabilities using Microsoft Office software.
  4. Attention to detail and task completion skills.
  5. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including experience with developing meeting content and presenting information to a group of people.
  6. Process documentation and development of quality standards experience preferred
  7. Familiarity with tractor trailer/heavy duty equipment industry products preferred.
  8. Familiarity with payroll time and attendance, and vacation approvals
  9. High school diploma or equivalent.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT

 

  1. Work is normally performed in a warehouse work environment.
  2. Work is typically performed between 7:00am and 6:00pm, with occasional time required between 6pm and 7am.
  3. Generally limited exposure to physical risk.  Bending and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  4. Occasional air/land travel required.
  5. Must be comfortable with working at heights up to 30 feet is required.
