The Plant Manager will be responsible for building the capabilities of the manufacturing plant to consistently produce high quality products and build robust operational excellence capabilities.  The Plant Manager reports directly to the Director of Manufacturing and is a member of the Supply Chain Expanded Leadership Team.

As part of the company’s aggressive growth strategy, significant investments are being made to strengthen the basic infrastructure of the organization (processes, systems, equipment, people).  The Plant Manager is a critical hire for the success of the company with a primary mission to build the capabilities of the manufacturing plant producing high quality results.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all functions of the Plant:  Production, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, EH&S, HR.
  • Plan, organize and optimize day-to-day operations to exceed customer’s expectations and deliver on key metrics (output, cost, quality, safety, employee engagement).
  • Execute/monitor facility performance to achieve targeted budgets.
  • Help create and evaluate performance to facility KPIs.
  • Develop and ensure implementation of required SOPs to drive the business.
  • Monitor operations and rapidly trigger corrective actions as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with other corporate resources (sales, engineering, finance, quality, HR, etc.) to best meet the needs of the company and it’s various stakeholders.
  • Increase asset utilization and reduce waste while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining quality standards.
  • Coordinate major projects in their Plant such as expansion, installation of equipment, layout changes, etc.
  • Establish a culture of employee safety through role modeling and adherence to high standards, etc.
  • Proactively seek to engage every employee and establish a culture of personal ownership.
  • Develop the staff in the Plant by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training and coaching great talent. This includes assessing performance and if needed administering corrective action.
  • Strengthen one’s technical expertise in manufacturing by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating as needed in professional societies.
  • As a member of the company’s Supply Chain Expanded Leadership Team contribute to this team’s success through active engagement in periodic summits (sharing best practices, key learnings, etc.).

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least 7-10 years of proven leadership experience within a high mix, high volume manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience creating and implementing manufacturing system improvements with demonstrated, significant & sustained results.
  • Prior experience leading change efforts in the application & implementation of Lean and high performing teams.
  • Certifications preferred – Lean, Six Sigma, APICS, etc.
