The Operations Manager (Production, Process and Equipment) will demonstrate leadership in communicating and driving business goals, production, and processes. S/he will utilize experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives and have the ability to effect short-term and long-term business goals. This role is responsible for leading the operational team and driving forward tactical & strategic manufacturing objectives determined by the leadership team.


Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, onboard, engage and retain great team supervisors
  • Ensure systems are in place to build high performing operating teams (recruiting, on boarding, training, etc.)
  • Coach, mentor, and set goals for direct reports and their teams
  • Lead the development, education, and training of new and improved manufacturing methods and creation of process standards, hands on
  • Support equipment upgrades from purchase through installation
  • Ensure visual management system is in place so all employees know if we are "winning the day", what the key issues are, what their status is and who is accountable
  • Ensure systems are in place to achieve high levels of equipment & process reliability; schedule the maintenance of production equipment and machines to ensure efficient operations
  • Drive and sustain process improvement in manufacturing operation
  • Identify and reduce sources of labor efficiency variations
  • Identify and reduce product non-conformance’s caused by process variation
  • Utilize continuous improvement principles and participate in action workouts to improve process capability; reduce overall cost and increase capacity
  • Resolve manufacturing process problems through execution of proper root cause analysis; Analyze and provide solutions to manufacturing challenges or problems
  • Ability to develop and/or execute operational projects to increase performance
  • Pursue continuous improvement for equipment efficiency, quality and cost reduction
  • Work as change agent, understanding and supporting leading operation toward world-class performance
  • Design and implement plans for the effective use of material and labor resources to achieve manufacturing target
  • Supervise the operations of manufacturing personnel to ensure a manufacturing process is within budget and time schedule as well as in compliance with health and safety standards
  • Liaise with the quality assurance department to ensure product quality and specification are consistent
  • Monitor and control a production process to adjust operations in event of a problem
  • Oversee the procurement of raw materials and equipment required for manufacturing

 

Requirements:

  • BS degree (Engineering) highly preferred
  • 5+ years of management experience within a food manufacturing environment
  • ERP experience – SAP preferred
  • Experience managing to KPI metrics
  • Ability to make data driven decision
  • Demonstrated root cause analyses skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Lean tools (5s, SMED, Kaizen) preferred
