In this role, you have the opportunity to:

The opportunity to drive early and deep procurement involvement on new platform design and product enhancements, while focusing on the End2End approach during supplier selection process and product lifecycle management activities.

You are responsible for:

  • Procurement Link in Development Center, executes cost down and (larger or multiple) new product introduction projects.
  • Drives concept savings in new product development in close cooperation with Marketing, Quality, SCM and development. Represents procurement in a development center and ensures early supplier involvement.
  • Leads or participates in DfX conventions. Provides should-cost assessments for newly proposed products. Drives request for quotation process based on the Forward Procurement List.
  • Drives the Supplier Selection Process together with the Commodity Teams. Executes and supports phase in – phase Out (PIPO) planning related to new product introduction.
  • Supports the Supplier Quality Manager in new supplier component release process as part of the Advanced Quality Plan (AQP), including compliance and sustainability aspects.
  • Aligns needs with competitive landscape and technology roadmaps. Provides input for make or buy analysis. Supports the in/outsourcing process (e.g. knowledge transfer, supplier ramp-up).
  • Provides input to the Commodity Teams regarding the supply base characteristics based on business requirements. Orders tools and samples related to new product development.
  • Leads the implementation of the cost reduction strategy focused on the product life cycle, from new product design to products released for production, by tapping into cost down opportunities for the assigned product(s) or supplier(s).
  • Identifies strategic cost reduction opportunities in the product portfolio and during the new product design process delivering a significant contribution to design decision making and product roadmaps.
  • Supports the negotiation teams with conceptual and fact-based information and opportunities to drive significant structural cost reduction improvement.
  • Drives the deployment of early supplier involvement through design-in or cost-reduction workshops. Develops and deploys common approaches to target costing and tracking for the assigned product/category.
  • Owns the delivering of BOM related cost elements for assigned major commodity, as required improving total cost of ownership for the cost roadmaps for key products.
  • Leads the development of an effective set of cost models to track “target cost” status for assigned.

The Medical Consumables and Sensors Business, which resides in The Monitoring and Analytics (MA) business group, in the Connected Care & Health Informatics business cluster. MA is a software and solutions business encompassing patient monitoring and its capabilities. Our MA solutions reach more than 370 million people every year. Our advanced intelligence platforms provide clinicians with the information when and where they need it so that they can make smart decisions. You will report to the Procurement Engineering Business Partner.

This role will initially be based in our Andover office. Philips will be relocating this office to a new site at Cambridge Crossing, a large development underway on the Cambridge-Somerville-Boston line. This is a very exciting time to be joining Philips, as this new location will be our largest North American R&D innovation center. The new office is set to open in early 2020.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering (MBA a plus)
  • 7+ experience managing supplier relationships, leading suppliers in new product development and leading supplier improvement projects
  • Expertise in value Engineering, Design for Excellence, LEAN and/or Six Sigma (Black Belt preferred)
  • Experience evaluating and implementing automated manufacturing processes
  • Project Management experience with the ability to think strategically in a global environment
  • Strong organization, planning and communication skills are required
  • Experience in international and multidisciplinary project teams (preferred)
  • Experience working in a regulated industry (preferred)
