Production Manager

Job Purpose:

  • The Production Manager coaches the team of production workers (3 shifts), and is responsible for their team performance.
  • The Production Manager ensures the food safety and the food quality of the product that is delivered to the market.
  • The Production Manager installs and maintains a culture of continuous improvement towards safety, quality and efficiency in the production department.
  • The Production manager is part of the Plant Management Team and in that role contributes to the plant performance.


Key Result Areas:

Organization and supervision of the production environment & the quality

  • Responsible for achieving the production KPI’s (quality, efficiency, hygiene, output, yield)
  • Implement work instructions
  • Propose & implement improvement actions in a pro-active way (continuous improvement)
  • Create a culture of raising the bar when it comes to quality & (product) safety (safety first, quality always)
  • Ensure the targeted quality of the end products
  • Ensure compliance with FSMA/FDA regulation and BRC standards by implementing the Quality Management System
  • Ensure the targeted quality of the end products
  • Financial targets/P&L responsibility

Responsible for the training and performance of the production workers 

  • Create a motivating and supporting culture
  • Provide training tools and documentation
  • Coordination and follow-up of training schedules
  • Be part of the selection process for new production workers
  • Performance cycle


Education (degree):

  • 1st preference is a Master in Food Science, Food process engineering, Food engineering, Food Processing and safety.  
  • 2nd preference would be a Bachelor in above studies complemented with an MBA.

Specific knowledge:

  • FSMA/FDA requirements
  • GFSI-certification requirements
  • Must be able to perform duties following all regulatory GMP/FSMA food hygiene practices
  • Basics of mechanical/electrical engineering & utilities


  • At least 5 years relevant experience and minimum of 3-5 years experience in a supervising role. (food industry or related)
  • Experience with SAP (production, planning) is a plus
  • Experience with BRC is a plus
