Warehouse Manager

Reporting to the Operations Manager, our client is a specialty sauce and condiment manufacturer with facilities in Winston Salem NC, and St. Louis, MO.  Our client produces products for an array of national and international customers under 3 essential business platforms: private label, branded and co-packing.  This position is well suited for you if you enjoy (i) being a part of a small organization where you can have a meaningful impact on business results; (ii) working closely with colleagues across all functional areas of the business and (iii) a team-oriented culture where colleagues work collaboratively to solve problems and deliver corporate objectives.  This role also offers the opportunity for personal growth, as employees receive direct exposure to senior management, both at the site and corporate level.  Job Summary The Warehouse Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of running a warehouse, including warehouse layout/organization, receiving materials, packing and shipping finished goods, scheduling orders and transportation, staffing/training/scheduling/managing employees, disposing of expired or rejected product, compliance and inventory control.   The Warehouse Manager will also be responsible for managing any external storage facilities.   Essential Responsibilities

1. Warehouse Operations a. Warehouse space and resources are effectively and logically organized and maintained. b. The cleanliness of the dock and all storage areas are maintained at all times. c. Materials are stored properly to conserve space and comply with safety procedures. d. Outbound shipments are accurately loaded and shipped on schedule.   e. In-bound shipments are received, accurately recorded in the inventory management system and placed in designated warehouse locations.  Oversees the movement of material from receiving to the warehouse in an efficient, effective and safe manner. f. Coordinates and communicates effectively with customers, suppliers and transportation partners to ensure that receiving and shipping appointments are scheduled wisely and met.   g. Timely and accurate processing of receipts, pick-ups and deliveries.  Ensures receiving reports accurately report material received; resolves discrepancies with accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports. Monitors the flow of paperwork from receiving to inventory control for timely data entry.   h. Communicates effectively with the Production Department regarding the schedule and needs of Production, ensuring materials are staged appropriately to ensure

Production has the materials they need when they need them; and that other departments are notified in a timely manner of any issues that could potentially impede their work. i. Ensuring that all inventories are handled properly and recorded accurately, thereby maximizing the accuracy of inventory balances in our ERP system, ensuring that materials and Finished Goods can easily be found when needed and minimizing product expires.   To this end, implements and oversees a consistent, reliable cycle-counting program.  j. Timely disposition of on-hold or expired items in accordance with regulatory standards (working in coordination with Quality and Production). 2. Team building and management a. Responsible for the selection of Warehouse employees, their individual development (e.g. coaching, training, timely feedback, regular performance appraisal), staffing/ scheduling, assigning and directing work and implementing any required discipline and terminations.  b. Evaluates performance of team members to position expectations and effectively addresses any identified gaps. c. Responsible for building a high performing team and culture, as evidenced by high attendance, an engaged workforce and the creation of effective leaders below the Manager level. d. Works with the Training Manager to identify the job competencies and skills required to be successful in each role in the Warehouse; and develops training programs and materials that teach these competencies and skills to members of their department. 3. Compliance a. Acts as a responsible advocate for regulatory requirements and Employee Safety.  Understands the importance of compliance and reports any and all observations of non-compliance. b. Maintains the safety and security of the warehouse c. Partners with the Maintenance Department to ensure that warehouse equipment is adequate and well-maintained. d. Ensures all documentation is accurately completed and complies with local, state and federal regulatory laws and rules to ensure the regular maintenance of a safe and clean warehouse. e. Ensures adherence to company policies, GMPs and safety standards. 4. Planning and Reporting  a. Creates annual operating and capital expenditure budgets. b. Measures and records KPIs to measure and track Warehouse performance (e.g. schedule attainment, inventory levels, quality issues, missing items and inventory accuracy); utilizes these KPIs to identifies problems and proposes solutions to problems, always seeking continuous improvement in warehouse performance.
