Job Description

In this role, you have the opportunity to work in a team of highly-skilled professionals, offering world class excellence in solutions within the Aging and Care-giving Business.

You will be seen as the expert in translating business needs into procurement solutions for this business. This is an instrumental role supporting the business in its transformation to a leading senior care solutions provider.

As the procurement engineer in this business, you act as the interface between suppliers, R&D, SW & HW engineers, Product Management and senior leadership in order to secure best-in-class products and solutions.

You are responsible for

  • Providing Procurement leadership and vision to enable the organization’s strategic objectives and contribute to developing procurement strategies
  • Representing procurement within the project and towards suppliers ensuring early supplier involvement
    Assisting business segments in meeting cost targets (e.g., through Design for Excellence / Value Engineering activities)
  • Being part of cross-functional teams that drive new solutions end to end and driving concept savings in NPIs and Life Cycle Management in close cooperation with R&D, Production, Marketing, Supplier Quality and Customer Service
  • Developing the strategic supply base aligned to business needs and supporting in/outsourcing activities (e.g. knowledge transfer, supplier ramp- up)
  • Interacting with all levels of personnel within Philips and supplier organizations
  • Supporting supplier negotiations to drive short and long term opportunities

A business playing a central role in improving people’s lives, Aging and Care-giving (ACG) is part of the Population Health Management business.

The ACG business is a leading solutions provider of care to seniors living independently or in care facilities. ACG is on a transnational journey to enhance its products and services with the digitization of healthcare.

This role will be based in the Boston area as the Aging and Care-giving business's operations are in Framingham although the role can be based in Philips' Cambridge Crossing office.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • A Bachelors’ degree in Engineering/Science or relevant disciplines
  • Existing knowledge of procurement processes and sourcing methodologies
  • A minimum of 7 plus years demonstrable experience gained within procurement or similar role
  • Strong project management skill set and proven track record in collaborating with and influencing cross-functional teams in a fast paced environment
  • Ideally deep knowledge of solutions type businesses with mix of hardware, software and full service approach to end customers
  • Can lead frequent interfacing with R&D Engineering, Marketing, Quality, Regulatory, Legal and Operations teams
  • Experience in researching new industry technologies, to deliver improved product solutions and reducing costs.
  • Knowledge and application of value engineering / Design for Excellence to improve the balance of value and cost to deliver optimal solutions
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills with strong written and verbal communication skills
