Sr. Demand Planning Analyst

The Senior Demand Planning Analyst is responsible for the overall ownership of the demand plan for the company’s worldwide markets.  This includes the development, validation and circulation of the consensus based global forecasting process which reflects the regional demand requirements and includes orchestrating the monthly demand planning, annual planning and long-term planning processes.  This role will also own the monthly and ad-hoc business analysis for the global supply chain network. 

Essential Job Functions

•             Deliver the 24-month aggregate demand plan to enable decision-making of S&OP stakeholders. This includes generating and publishing to key stakeholders, monthly and weekly demand forecasts, including clear identification of assumptions highlighting significant changes since release of previous month’s report or data.

•             Lead the SKU-level forecasting process of existing and new products, which includes the integration of historical sales trends, researching of demand drivers, understanding sell-through rates, consignment/truck stock replenishment rates, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results. 

•             Manages the demand planning and SKU-level forecasting activity for finished goods globally.

•             Interact with commercial and finance teams to understand demand forecast drivers, alignment of the demand forecast and sales each month and understanding the drivers to achieve the sales plan.  Maintain and update forecast assumptions.

•             Utilize a collaborative and consensus approach by working with commercial, regulatory, supply chain and finance teams to obtain and ensure up-to-date information is used for demand forecasts, including regulatory timelines of new product introductions.

•             Drives alignment among the financial commitments and revenue, bottoms up consensus commercial forecasts for each region, creates, maintains and aggregates non-revenue demand requirements from clinical, R&D and other sources. 

•             Coordinate cross-functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated commercial assumptions.

•             Explains demand shortfalls and spikes to the appropriate stakeholders, including the options/plans to mitigate risk.

•             Establish supply chain analytics and demand planning KPI such as sales/demand forecast accuracy and reports in monthly S&OP.

•             Maintains forecasts and planning factors regarding relationships between distribution locations.

•             Continuously analyzes, reports, and reduces forecast error rates by product families, and develop root cause action plans to reduce forecast errors to continuously improve the process.

•             Participates in demand planning tools implementation, enhancements and upgrades. Monitors system functions and assures proper interfaces between systems.

•             Assists management in resolution of problems related to over-/under-shipments and related impacts on service & inventory levels.

•             Drives continuous process improvements initiatives across supply chain.

•             Proactively develops others within the planning organization through the sharing of best demonstrated processes and knowledge transference.

•             Provides cross functional leadership across departments to solve for demand related issues caused by forecast error, demand constraints, etc.

•             Other ad-hoc business analysis and activities as assigned.

Requirements

•             Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field required.

•             5+ years of experience in demand planning, supply chain analytics or similar roles. Previous experience in medical device or pharmaceutical industries preferred.

•             Extensive knowledge in planning processes: demand planning, supply planning, distribution planning, new products introduction, material planning and S&OP process.

•             Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.

•             Experience in data mining, analysis and reporting; ability to organize a lot of data and information effectively.

•             Ability to develop solutions to a wide range of complex problems, which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation.

•             Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel and PowerPoint, relational databases and ERP systems; QAD strongly preferred

•             Ability to work in teams as well as independently and manage changing priorities in a complex, fast-paced cross-functional environment, strong time management skills.

•             Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for analysis, modeling and creative thinking; able to identify and resolve issues / problems, define potential deficiencies that could impact product milestone timelines or operations.

 

•             Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to understand and communicate scientific and business elements to multiple internal audiences.
