Founded over 15 years ago my client is a leading global medical device manufacturer who are one of the fastest growing companies serving the high tech, high growth medical device industry. They have been going through some great growth expanding across the country and are now looking to add to their high performing centre of excellence team reporting up into the VP of PMO.

Job Description

The Sr Production Planning and Control Manager will manage the production planning, inventory control, purchasing and shipping functions within established guidelines and standards to produce on-time, high quality, low-cost product in a safe and clean environment. Provides support to production scheduling on all material flow issues to meet production schedules and customer requirements. Collaborates with operations team in planning and forecasting of customer orders to delivery due dates. Provides consistent, fair, and timely feedback to team and leadership members through one-on-one discussions, performance reviews, coaching, mentoring, and training in accordance with company culture and supportive of IMI behaviors. Coordinate with supply base to ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained

  • Collaborates with cross-functional team to design/develop/implement production planning, capacity planning and scheduling processes and standard operating procedures to improve visibility and drive execution
  • Coaches and mentors members of supply chain team.
  • Manages local daily activities of the purchasing, inventory control, shipping and receiving functions
  • Establishes goals and metrics for supply chain team; provides feedback; evaluates performance to goals; reports results.
  • Leads the planning and scheduling process throughout the manufacturing facility, WIP, Raw Material, semi-finished goods and finished goods to optimize the productivity
  • Establishes metrics and utilize various tools (e.g. Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, Pareto charts, etc.) to continue improve departmental performance.
  • Set the replenishment strategy for all parts in the supply chain supporting pull manufacturing. (Kanban / Heijunka etc…)
  • Lead and develop a team of planners and buyers to ensure there is enough components available to meet finished goods demand.
  • Manage the demand plan to smooth demand using inventory supermarkets to optimise level production
  • Ensure inventory turns across the whole and component parts of the supply chain are in double digits (i.e. above 10)
  • Ensure there is enough flexibility in the planning schedule system to accommodate a 25% swing in demand variation.
  • Utilize system capability to drive MRP / Advanced supply chain planning techniques
  • Optimize the forecast accuracy at product group level and drive the S&OP process for the facility

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree required (Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related discipline), Masters/MBA degree preferred
  • 5+ years experience within Supply Chain

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience leading or mentoring others
  • Experience in Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Production Planning and/or Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes
  • Highly process driven. Past experience on Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma preferred
  • Analytical skills, technical aptitude and knowledge of analytical tools (Excel, Minitab, etc.)
  • SQL experience a plus
  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and self-motivational skills
  • Experience working on cross-functional and international teams
